Ashley Madekwe and Ashley Leggat
Madekwe, a mixed race British-Nigerian child, was born to a family in South London. Her father is Nigerian Swiss and her mother is English. She was born in the south London Council Estate. She went to The Brit School aged 14. She was a student at an academy called the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London in which she earned an BA in acting. She performed in various performances on stage during her school days, including King Henry V and Wuthering Heights.
Madekwe started her acting career with a film titled Storm Damage. She's appeared as an actor in Teachers Doctors Casualty Drop Dead Gorgeous. Madekwe's first film appearance was Woody Allen's Cassandra's Dream (2007), alongside Colin Farrell. Then, she was the lead in Elisha in the BBC Three pilot drama, in West 10 LDN. In addition, she appeared as Ollie in six episodes each from Trexx, Flipside, and Flipside. In the ITV2 series Secret Diary of a Call Girl featured her in the year 2008 as Bambi. Madekwe also starred as the title character in How to lose friends & alienate people and be apathetic, which premiered on Sony Pictures Entertainment 2008. The credits she has in her theatre work comprise Little Sweet Thing by Roy Williams and Flight Path by David Watson.
Madekwe made her official US debut in the 2009 drama The Beautiful Life, which only aired two episodes in the US on The CW before being cancelled. In February 2011, she was cast as Ashley Davenport in the ABC drama series Revenge. After being a regular for the first two seasons, it was announced in May 2013 that Madekwe was set to depart the series following her appearance on the premiere episode from the 3rd season. The actress portrayed Tituba in the TV show Salem from 2014 until 2016. Madekwe, her long-time companion, Iddo, married Madekwe in June of 2012. They've worked together on Secret Diary of a Call Girl and he also had a role alongside her in the television series Salem.
Ashley Leggat, a twice Gemini nominated actress, was raised in a large family from Hamilton, Ontario. Her parents, Roy and Patty, as well as her brothers Brett, Todd, and Bram and Bram, were present. All of her brothers were athletic and played baseball and hockey in the summer and winter. She grew up in the arenas and baseball. Ashley didn't walk, instead she would dance. In the age of two and a half, she was introduced to Baby Ballet. Ashley was captivated by dance when she was just a few years old. Ashley was a competitive dancer throughout the various categories until the time she graduated from high school. She was a competitor in jazz, tap, ballet and pointe, as well as the acrobatics. She was crowned the top individualist in all the most prestigious dance competitions like, International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers 5-6-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, and Dance, Dance, Dance to name a few.
